National Rail Museum is not included in the list of the most popular places to visit in Delhi. And that is why it is on my list – for those who have already seen all usual Delhi sights or for those who want to see more than the “standard set of tourist”.
Also check: India Habitat Centre
What is interesting there? The history of the development of railway transport in India in maquettes and photographs, old trains as exhibits, rides on trains for adults and children. The museum has a cafe in case you get hungry and a souvenir shop (but the shop has not so touristic type of souvenirs).
You can get there by cab. The cost of entry varies depending on the day of the week (on weekdays cheaper than on weekends), also it’s more expensive on public holidays (on some holidays museum can be closed as well). The price also depends on the set of services you take. For example, for train rides you need to buy different tickets. You can check the prices on the museum’s website: http://nrmindia.com/
Usually there is the queue for the entry, expect that the purchase of tickets may take some time. Also the train for adults is quite small so the queue for it can be there as well.
In general, visiting the Rail museum is an interesting experience, especially for travelers with children or for people who are interested in modern history of India, not just the old one.
