Falafel is a Middle Eastern dish that has its origin from Egypt. It’s easy to cook, tasty and crispy, high in proteins vegan dish.


  • Chickpeas – 1 cup (soak overnight);
  • 1 onion (chopped);
  • Coriander/ other fresh greenery – a little bit (chopped);
  • Garlic – 1 clove (chopped/ grated);
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp;
  • Red chili powder – 1/4 tsp;
  • Black pepper – 1/4 tsp;
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp;
  • Salt – to taste;
  • Refined wheat flour – 2 tbsp;
  • Baking soda – 1/4 tsp;
  • Oil – amount required for deep frying


  • Boil chickpeas and mash it;
  • Add all the ingredients except oil to chickpeas and mix it very well;
  • Preheat oil for deep frying;
  • Form the balls of medium size with wet hands;
  • Put falafel balls for deep frying and fry it until they turn golden-brown;
  • Remove the balls on paper towel so that it would soak excess oil;
  • Your falafel balls are ready.
